As we all know, China's building operation energy consumption accounts for about 30% of the total energy consumption of the whole society, and the energy consumption of heating and air conditioning has accounted for 55% of the total energy consumption of the building, heating and air conditioning and other equipment energy-saving treatment has become the key point of building energy conservation. Water source heat pump technology is known as a renewable energy technology, and has become an important development direction of heating and air conditioning energy saving in building projects.

Water source heat pump is mainly the use of urban sewage, seawater, surface water, through the input of a very small amount of high-grade energy (such as electric energy), to achieve the transfer of heat from the low temperature to the high temperature direction, to solve the problem between heating and cooling. With the continuous development and maturity of related technologies, the application of water source heat pump technology in heating and air conditioning has developed rapidly. The ground source heat pump system uses soil as a heat source, and circulates liquid in a closed heat exchanger composed of horizontal or vertical underground buried pipes to absorb heat to the surrounding soil in winter and release heat to the surrounding soil in summer. Reasonable arrangement of underground heat exchange pipe network and maintaining long-term stability of underground temperature field is the key to the success of the project. The groundwater source heat pump system takes water body as a low heat source. By pumping groundwater to release heat in the heat pump and then recharging it to the groundwater layer, the heat transfer between the system and the groundwater is realized. In the application, avoiding the loss of groundwater resources and ensuring that the groundwater layer is not polluted is the premise of the project implementation. The surface water source heat pump system realizes the heat transfer between the system and the surface water through the heat exchanger composed of multiple parallel plastic pipes under the surface water surface in ponds, lakes or rivers. The influence of the heat transfer of this heat pump on the ecological environment in the water body should be considered in advance.

Seventy percent of the energy of the water source heat pump air conditioning system comes from the soil, and thirty percent of the energy comes from electricity, which is used to "transport" the heat in the soil to the room. Compared with the electric boiler, gas and oil boiler heating system, the boiler heating can only convert more than 90% of the electric energy or 70-90% of the fuel internal energy into heat for the user, so it is more than two-thirds of the electric boiler heating, saving more than half of the energy than the fuel boiler, and its operating cost is only 50-60% of the ordinary central air conditioning. The use of water source heat pump system, no combustion process in winter, no pollutant discharge, summer reduce the cooling tower floating water loss, slow down the urban heat island effect, has a very significant economic and social benefits.
